Over the summer, our studios have been busy recording for many new podcasts, including Block & Lot by Brian Meier

Block & Lot is a new informative podcast, by hosts Brian Meier and Jamie Highline, that brings listeners real, timely information on the real estate market, in a live talk-show format. Brian and Jamie, who work together at New York's largest real estate company, The Corcoran Group, recorded their first episodes here at Dubway, and can be listened to via iTunes.

Vocal tracking for Daniel Pigliavento

Singer and actor Daniel Pigliavento was in studio recording vocals with engineer Jake Bolles for an upcoming project.

Daniel Pigliavento

Daniel appeared in Pitch Perfect 2, playing a member of an a cappella group in the 2015 film starring Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. In 2011, he also appeared as a dancer in the film Get On Up: The James Brown Story. His most recent music release, Summertime Anytime, with collaborator Hannah Bush, reached over 20,000 views on YouTube.

StarTalk Radio's "Playing With Science" Podcast recording in the Mezzanine

A few episodes for StarTalk's new spin-off show Playing With Science was recorded in the Mezzanine this week. Guest interviewees included Gymnastic Olympian and sport biomechanics innovator Phil Cheetham (participating via Skype) and former lead scientist for NASA, Dr. Ellen Stofan.

Playing with Science, presented by StarTalk and Stitcher, is a podcast that explores the science behind some of the most iconic, memorable moments in sports. The new show is hosted by professional British soccer player and sports broadcaster Gary O’Reilly and Chuck Nice, voted “Fan Favorite StarTalk co-host” for the past two years. Guests include top professional athletes, sports experts, coaches, and pundits. New episodes air Wednesday nights at 7 pm ET on the StarTalk Podcast Network. 

Location recording for the returning season of Cash Cab

Dubway location recordist Zac Suskevich was recording sound for the new season of Discovery Channel's Cash Cab. The series, which ran from 2005-2012, is back for a new season with original host Ben Bailey.

In the reality game show, which takes place in New York City, players picked up in the Cash Cab have to answer trivia questions before they reach their destination – and possibly win up to $1,000!

VO for Albert Watson documentary

Scottish fashion and celebrity photographer Albert Watson was recording voice overs for a documentary about his work, which included the infamous portrait of Steve Jobs. Watson's work is featured in galleries and museums worldwide. In June 2015, Queen Elizabeth II awarded him an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2015 for 'services to photography.'

Location recording for Delta Launchpad, curated by VICE

Dubway location recordist Zac Suskevich recorded the New York City edition of Delta Launchpad, a multi-city series of events hosted by Delta Air Lines and VICE Media.

Curated by VICE, the series celebrates Delta’s significant growth in Los Angeles, New York and Seattle, "providing aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools to support their creative passions, and their pursuit of travel" through daily programming. In New York City, Delta Launchpad ran from June 8-11 at Kinfolk 94 in Williamsburg with a focus on music. The music industry workshops and performances included artists Sofi Tukker, Father of Awful Records, Fatima Al Qadiri, Holy Ghost!, Palmbomen II, and Tanisha Scott.

Podcast Recording for ArtsCenter College of Design

Last week, engineer Sam Palumbo recorded a podcast for ArtCenter College of Design alumni with Lorne Buchman (right), president of the ArtCenter, and interviewee Nicholas Gustafsson (left), director of global design for PepsiCo. Also interviewed for the alumni podcast was lead designer at UNICEF, Mari Nakano.

ArtCenter is a nonprofit, private college specializing in design, located in Pasadena, CA.

Post Mix for "On a Knife Edge"

Dubway Studios did a full surround sound mix for the documentary feature, On a Knife Edgeproduced by Eli Cane and directed by Jeremy Williams. Mariah Cruz worked on the dialogue cleanup, while our chief engineer Nathaniel Reichman did the post mix for the feature-length film.

On The Knife Edge, a "coming-of-age journey set on the Pine Ridge Reservation," is set against a background of rising racial tension and protest, where a Lakota teenager learns first-hand what it means to lead a new generation and enter adulthood in a world where the odds are stacked against him.

Post Mix for short film 'Chivalry' by Jono Freedrix

Dubway has had the pleasure of working on the post mixes for short films by Brooklyn film director Jono Freedrix, most recently for The Fluid Trilogy (Bloody Mary, Sucklepump, and Bun In The Oven).

This month, engineer Nathaniel Reichman worked on the mix for his latest film, Chivalry: "a sly romance about a lonesome man and his duplicitous dream girl, starring Bob Greenberg, Chayna Douglas & Sam Moyer." Mariah Cruz and Louis Fisher assisted with editing the music and SFX.

 

Radio interviews for The Fraternity's "Requiem" on Sony Classical

An international community of young priests known as The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, or “The Fraternity” as they have lovingly been referred to, includes some of today’s most skilled and committed singers of Gregorian chant.  The community has been preparing to present ancient melodies anew, on the album Requiem, to be released on May 12, 2017 through their new international collaboration with De Montfort Music/Sony Classical.

Tanzina Vega was in studio recording an interview for Premium Podcasts by CNN with Richard Rothstein, who participated via ISDN connection from a studio in Washington, D.C.

Tanzina Vega is CNNMoney's national reporter for race and inequality in America. Prior to working at CNN, Vega was a staff reporter for The New York Times where she created and covered a beat on race and ethnicity for the national desk, reported on digital media and advertising for the business desk and covered the New York City courts for the metro section.

Richard Rothstein is an author and research associate of the Economic Policy Institute and a fellow at the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and of the Haas Institute at the University of California (Berkeley), with expertise in education, race, and ethnicity.

Griffin Dunne for the Modern Love Podcast

Last week, engineer Russell Castiglione recorded Griffin Dunne for the Modern Love podcast.

Modern Love is a collaborative podcast between Boston's WBUR and New York's NPR that features the popular New York Times column, with readings by notable personalities and updates from the essayists themselves. Dubway continues to work with Modern Love after recording readings in 2016 by Dakota Fanning, Issa Rae and Mark Duplass.

Kathleen Turner and Wallace Shawn recording ADR for "Someone Else's Wedding"

Engineer Sam Palumbo worked with CCI Entertainment, recording ADR for the upcoming movie Someone Else's Wedding. Participating in the session were award-winning actors Kathleen TurnerWallace Shawn and Luke Kirby, with director Pat Kiely tuned in via Dubway's dedicated Skype interface, SkypeWay.

Kathleen Turner is a two-time Golden Globe award-winning actress, also known for her voice acting work as Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Wallace Shawn is a film and voice actor, most recognized for his work in the Toy Story series, The Incredibles, and The Haunted Mansion.

StarTalk Radio Show by Neil DeGrasse Tyson in the mezzanine

We had the pleasure of hosting renowned astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson's podcast "StarTalk Radio Show" in the mezzanine this past March. The session also included video filming for their YouTube series.

StarTalk is a podcast on space, science, and popular culture with various comic and celebrity co-hosts and frequent guests from the worlds of science and entertainment.

Award-winning actors Roger Bart and Andrew Schulz came into Dubway Studios to record ADR for Seeso's new eight-episode series There's... Johnny! Oscar-nominated comedian and show creator Paul Reiser participated from LA via our new Skype system, "SkypeWay." The session was engineered by Zac Suskevich.

There’s … Johnny! is an upcoming eight-episode comedy series that takes a fictional trip back in time and behind the scenes of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. The show is to be aired on NBCUniversal's comedy network Seeso.

Roger Bart is a Tony Award-winning actor who is known for his work on The ProducersAmerican Gangster, and Desperate Housewives.

Andrew Schulz is a comedian and TV Personality known for appearing on MTV2's Guy Code and the Amazon original series Sneaky Pete.
