Tape Baking & Audio Restoration
Bring us your old recordings, and we will bring them back to life! Physical media does degrade over time, and that can lead to some distracting clicks, pops, hiss, and worse in your recordings, but if you have a scratchy old record or a tape that’s in questionable condition, don’t worry! After your transfer is complete, we can apply digital noise filtration to minimize any unwanted noise.
As you may know, certain varieties of tape (most often Ampex 456 and some types of VHS and U-Matic) have an issue where they start to take on moisture after around 10 years. The tape can expand and jam up the transport mechanism of a tape machine, or the binder can loosen up and literally shed off the tape, destroying your recording. Through a process called 'tape baking' we can render your tapes playable again, allowing us to make a digital or analog transfer of the original material.
