2005 proved to be Dubway Studios biggest year. The
well-known Manhattan recording studio saw record growth
last year and has fast become one of New York City’s
hottest places to track. LifeTime Television
brought in the ever-ubiquitous Christine Baranski
for some ADR work on her starring roll in the film
Recipe For A Perfect Christmas. The
Christmas special aired in December just in time for
the holidays. Dubway owner/engineer Mike Crehore
tracked the session and was assisted by Keith Rigling.
Live@VH1.com continued its heavy production
schedule into the new year. This time on the set were
Fiona Apple, Kelly Clarkson, and Franz Ferdinand,
among others. Dubway Studios’ chief engineer Jason
Marcucci tracked and Eric Spring assisted.
Working on his follow up to Edible Darling,
Ben Arthur has been back at Dubway tracking
a batch of new songs. Studio owners/engineers Al
Houghton and Mike Crehore have been sharing
the engineering duties. Ben ended his deal with Bardic/Sony
and is currently being looked at by several labels.
Chip Taylor has been getting ready to release
his new album and has been working with Dubway engineer
Mike Presta for the last several months. The
well-known country-folk artist best known for writing
the hit song “Wild Thing” continues
to record and tour the world. His new album is expected
out later this year. Singer-songwriter Terry Winchell
has been in Dubway’s Yellow Room mixing and putting
the final touches on her new release with Dubway owner/engineer
Al Houghton. The folk-flavored album is being
produced by Mark McCarran.

Jazz artist William Lucas was in Dubway Studios'
Yellow Room recording songs for his new album recently
with quite a line-up. The legendary Buddy Williams
played drums, Bob Baldwin played piano and
Paul Nowinski played bass. Dubway engineer
Mike Presta tracked the session. Apple Computer
held an iTunes Event with British recording
artists The Doves. The band performed a live
one-hour set at the Apple Store in SoHo to
an attentive group of fans. Dubway Studios engineer
Julio Pena tracked with assistant Ryan Geller.
This month on the Live At VH1.com set,
Dubway Studios chief engineer Jason Marcucci has
had his hands full tracking Beck, Ashlee Simpson,
The White Stripes, Nickel Creek, Switchfoot, Staind,
Nickleback, Ryan Cabrera, O.A.R., and Common
to name just a few. The show continues to draw some
of the biggest names in music! Eric Spring
assisted.
Dubway's newest client, Circa Music/NFL Films,
has begun recording voice-overs for its new season.
The hugely popular football films have won 82 Emmy
Awards in its more than 30 years of business.
The sessions have been taking place in Dubway's Green
Room with engineers Eric Spring and Chris
Abell. MCA recording artist Leona Naess
brought in her new album for mixing with Dubway engineer
Emery Dobyns. The British singer-songwriter
has been touring with Nickel Creek, and Dobyns
just returned from a European tour with Patti Smith.
Chris Thile of Nickel Creek dropped
in to add some mandolin on a song. Naess hopes
to release the album in early 2006.
Finally, Dubway Studios owner/engineer Al Houghton
mastered the new SpongeBob SquarePants album
for Nick Records with producer Emily Whitman.
SpongeBob emerged from the bottom of the sea
just long enough for a photo-op with Houghton.
The new album entitled "The Yellow Album"
is due out later this year.

It has been a couple of busy months for Dubway Studios.
David Gray, Bob Mould, Liz Phair, Missy Higgins,
and Hootie & The Blowfish, have all tracked
on the set of the hugely popular television show Live
At VH1.com. Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci
tracked the sessions along with assistant Ryan
Geller.
Alicia Keyes had a guest spot on an episode
of the hit kids television show The Backyardigans.
She played a "Mommy Martian" and sang The Boinga Song.
The tracking took place in Dubway's Yellow Room with
owner/engineer Al Houghton and assistant Patrick
McLemore.
Dubway engineer Emery Dobyns brought in the
new Patti Smith live album to mix with Smith's
bassist Tony Shanahan. The album is a live
version of her much-celebrated debut Horses and
will be included as a 30 year anniversary bonus CD
with her new album later this year.
Newcomer Julia Joseph began tracking her debut
album in Dubway's Yellow Room with producer Bruce
Brody (Ricky Lee Jones, Maria McKee, Lone Justice)
and Dubway owner/engineer Mike Crehore. Brody
has assembled some of the hottest session players
in New York to sit in including Kenny Wollesen
(Tom Waits, Ron Sexsmith) on drums & percussion and
Paul Norwinski (Pat Martino, Ricky Lee Jones)
on bass.

MAY & JUNE have been two busy months for Dubway.
Nick Records brought in the latest Lazy
Town album for mastering with Dubway Studios
owner Mike Crehore. Producer Richard Barone
was back, this time around with Jolie Jones
(daughter of Quincy Jones) cutting tracks for
her new children's album. Dubway's own Jason Marcucci
and Mike Presta engineered. James Garfunkel
(son of Art Garfunkel) was in tracking demos
with Art's long-time engineer Stuart Breed.
Dubway engineer Patrick McLemore assisted.
Elizabeth Ziff and her band Betty, whose
fame is ever-increasing due to the Showtime Television
hit series The L Word, was back in Dubway's
Yellow Room tracking more songs for the show. This
time around with Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci.
Nick Jr.'s runaway hit television show The
Backyardigans is in full production for season
II. Musical Director Evan Lurie has been hard
at work tracking a wide variety of music for the show
with some of the hottest musicians in New York City.
Dubway engineers Mike Crehore, Al Houghton
and Keith Rigling have been tracking.
Some of the members of Blue Oyster Cult were
in Dubway Studios Yellow Room with Dubway engineer
Mike Presta. The band was backing well-known
singer and long-time friend Fabienne Shine
for her upcoming album project. Ms. Shine and
band are old touring mates and have traveled many
miles together.
Finally, production on the Original Media/VH1 show
Live At VH1 is going strong and continues
to attract some of the biggest artists in the music
business including Alanis Morissette. Alanis
and band stopped by the set to tape a live performance
in support of her world tour celebrating the ten-year
anniversary of Jagged Little Pill. Dubway
engineer Jason Marcucci recorded and mixed
the session.

The Discovery Channel was in Dubway Studio’s
Blue Room tracking voiceovers with Dubway engineer
Keith Rigling for their hit show American
Chopper, and a new reality series called The
Deadliest Catch. Both shows draw large audiences
and air weekly. Fred Schneider of The B52’s
and Richard Barone were in Dubway’s Yellow
Room with Dubway engineer Mike Presta producing
British pop star Sophie Ellis Bextor for her
new Polydor Records UK release. Barone and
Schneider collaborated on several songs for Bextor’s
upcoming release.
Antony, whose fame is ever-increasing, just
returned from a world tour and landed in Dubway’s
Yellow Room with Dubway engineer Emery Dobyns
to produce the band Beaut. The new album is
expected to be out later this year. Newcomer singer/songwriter
Eddie Tadross was in Dubway’s Yellow Room with
producer Kerryn Tollhourst and Dubway engineer
Mike Presta tracking several songs. The talented
singer is quickly developing a buzz around New York.
Messenger Records brought in Australian artist
Anne McCue’s new release for mastering with
studio owner Mike Crehore in Dubway’s Blue
Room.
And last but not least, Richard Barone was
in Dubway’s Blue Room putting together the sound-track
for the DVD release of the new Klaus Nomi film.
Mr. Barone brought the project to Dubway owner
Mike Crehore for mastering.

It's been another busy month at Dubway Studios!
February proved to be a revolving door of great artists.
The studio tracked Tori Amos and Ben Folds
for the VH1/Original Media show Live
at VH1.com with Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci
and assistants Clint Collins and Patrick
McLemore. The show will air weekly beginning in
April and has attracted an "A" list of recording artists.
Antony, of Antony and The Johnsons,
was back again in Dubway's Yellow Room, this time
producing a new band called Beaut with Dubway
engineer Emery Dobyns. Dobyns, well
known for engineering the acclaimed Patti Smith
album Trampin', also worked with the
recently signed Devendra this month in Dubway's
Yellow Room on his new project.
The Showtime hit series The L Word
kicked off it's second season this month with the
music of composer Elizabeth Ziff (AKA ez
girl.) Ms. Ziff tracked episodes in Dubway's
Yellow Room with engineer Julian Mc Browne
and Dubway engineer Mike Presta. The ratings
came in for the Nick Jr. hit-series The
Backyardigans. The Saturday morning prime-time
show, which airs on CBS, came in at number
two! All aspects of audio are tracked exclusively
at Dubway Studios with owner/engineer Mike Crehore,
and Jason Marcucci.
Bardic Records/Sony recording artist Ben Arthur
is back in Dubway's Yellow Room again, starting work
on his new album. Dubway owners/engineers Al Houghton
& Mike Crehore are tracking the session. Lastly,
the well-publicized Christo & Jean-Claude opened
their grand art installation The Gates
in New York City's Central Park. The two artists tracked
their film commentary (Five Films About Christo
& Jean-Claude, Plexifilms) at Dubway
Studios with owner/engineer Al Houghton.

Dubway Studios kicked off the new year by
tracking Green Day for its VH1/Original
Media show Live at VH1.com. The
band was so loud they got complaints from three flights
up in the building! Dubway’s own Jason Marcucci
engineered with assistants Clint Collins and
Patrick McLemore. The Nick Jr. hit-series
The Backyardigans is nearing completion
of season one and is in pre-production planning for
season two. Composer Evan Lurie will continue
as music supervisor with Dubway Studios owner/engineer
Mike Crehore tracking the majority of the show.
Ghostly Records recording artists The Mobius
Band tracked their new album this month. The band
locked out Dubway’s Yellow Room and recorded twelve
songs in five days with Dubway engineer Emery Dobyns
and assistant Clint Collins.
The New Jersey Tap Ensemble tracked in Dubway’s
Yellow Room for an upcoming production with director
Deborah Mitchell. Mitchell, well known for her
work as an actress and dancer in such films as The
Cotton Club, a Broadway and Paris production
of Black & Blue, and the PBS
show Great Performances is working with
long-time music collaborator Leonard Oxley.
Dubway engineer Mike Presta recorded the session.
Finally, construction on the new Blue and Green
Rooms is near completion. Both studios are cozy,
multiple-use rooms that can accommodate overdubs,
video editing, sound design, audio-post, and mixing.
They will be identically equipped with gear that includes
Genelec Monitors, Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, Avalon
737 pre-amps, Dangerous 2 Bus analog summing, Manley
Veri-mu, and Waves Plug-in Bundles. Both
rooms have two live spaces connected to them.

2004 has proven to be Dubway's busiest year to date.
In addition to a mix of musicians in the studio, film
and television clientele have been steadily flooding
Dubway with new and exciting projects. Nick Jr.
launched its hit series, The Backyardigans,
with composers Evan Lurie, Doug Weiselman and
some of the best musicians in New York. Keith Rigling
is the production assistant for the series and the
engineers are Dubway's very own Mike Crehore
and Jason Marcucci. VH1/Original Media
have been keeping Jason Marcucci on his toes
recording "Live at VH1.com". The show
thrived throughout the year with some of the biggest
names in music such as N.E.R.D., Dave Matthews
Band, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morrissette,
Johnny Lang, Jet, Good Charlotte, The Used and
Wilco.
Chip Taylor recorded tracks for his solo album,
with the help of engineer Mike Presta, and
kicked off his world tour right here in New York City.
Grammy Award winning singer B.J. Crosby was
in Dubway's Yellow Room recording a new track called
"Lucky Star" with engineer Mike Presta.
Ben Arthur tracked with engineer Mike Crehore
for his new album Edible Darling on
Bardic Records/Sony. Antony and the Johnsons,
newly signed to the Secretly Canadian label,
recorded their upcoming album featuring Lou Reed
and Rufus Wainwright with well known engineer
Emery Dobyns, who recently tracked the highly
acclaimed Patty Smith album, Trampin.
Dobyns also engineered recording sessions with
Devendra Banhart on his new album.
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Jai
Rodriguez was in the Yellow Room recording tracks
for his new album, engineered by Jason Marcucci.
Richard Barone wrapped up Tracy Stark's
upcoming release, with Phebe Snow singing background
vocals. Barone also completed a new PS Classic
release with Johnny Rodgers, engineered by
Al Houghton. Barone also began tracking
his long awaited new album with engineer Mike Presta
with plans for a 2005 release. Renowned Brazilian
jazz artist Eumir Deodoto was in the studio
producing artist Nina Belanger with Dubway
engineer, Mike Presta. Smokey Hormel,
known for his work with Johnny Cash, The Blasters,
and Beck, began tracking his new album with
engineer Mike Crehore, who also has been tracking
the score with Evan Lurie for Steve Buscemi's
new film, Lonesome Jim, starring
Liv Tyler and Casey Affleck. Showtime's
hit series The L-Word began full production
this fall with music composer Elizabeth Ziff on
its second season, tracking underscore on an episode
at Dubway with Mike Presta assisting. Dubway
Studios also got the opportunity to work with Christo
and Jeanne-Claude in production of the
commentary track for their DVD documentary about their
larger than life art installations entitled "Five
Films about Christo and Jeanne-Claude" released
on Plexifilm. Amidst the daily hustle and bustle,
Dubway Studios has expanded its space to accommodate
a new lounge and office. The renovation is well underway
on the Green Room and the construction on the new
Blue Room has been completed. In addition, a brand
new recording space will be up and running by the
end of January.

The Nick Jr. children’s animated television
series The Backyardigans hit the airwaves
this month in its CBS Saturday morning prime-time
slot. The show received high ratings and plans for
season two are already in the works. Dubway Studio’s
owner/engineer Mike Crehore and engineer Jason
Marcucci tracked all aspects of audio for the
show.
Dubway’s own Mike Presta has been quite busy
this month with back-to-back sessions. His schedule
so far has included a new film from The Press &
The Public entitled Empire Falls.
Producers Libby Handros and John Kirby
were on hand in Dubway’s Yellow Room tracking a portion
of the film’s score. Renowned Brazilian jazz artist
Eumir Deodoto was in producing artist Nina
Belanger, pop artist Deni Bonet tracked
a portion of her new release with John Wesley Harding
on backing vocals, and producer/songwriter Kevin
Salem (named one of the “best songwriters of the
year” by Rolling Stone.) Recording artist/producer
Richard Barone of The Bongos fame brought
in Terre Roche to track a song for his long
awaited new album.
Well-known recording artist Smokey Hormel (Johnny
Cash, The Blasters, Beck, Sam Phillips) began
tracking songs for his new album with Dubway Studio’s
owner/engineer Mike Crehore in Dubway’s Yellow
Room. Mike Crehore also began tracking composer Evan
Lurie’s score with Steve Buscemi for his
new film starring Liv Tyler and Casey Affleck,
entitled Lonesome Jim. Buscemi
is directing.
Finally, on the VH1 set this month, Dubway
Studios continued audio production with recording
artists Wilco, G Love, Hanson, Paul Weller, Bowling
For Soup, Dashboard Confessional, Interpol, De La
Soul, Jimmy Eat World, Sum 41 and The Used.

The Showtime hit television show The
L Word is in full production for it’s second
season and music composer Elizabeth Ziff along
with the shows creator/writer/executive producer
Ilene Chaiken and actress Alyson Palmer
were in Dubway Studios' Yellow Room recently tracking
underscore. Engineer Julian McBrowne recorded
the session and Dubway’s own Mike Presta assisted.
A new film from Twentieth Century Fox titled
Because Of Winn Dixie is in post-production
and composer/producer Sheldon Steiger and director
Wayne Wang (Maid In Manhattan, Smoke,
The Joy Luck Club) were in Dubway Studios'
Yellow Room tracking a song with the singing group
The Beu Sisters to be used in the film. The film
stars Jeff Daniels, Cicely Tyson, and pop music
star Dave Matthews in his acting debut.
Recording artist/producer Richard Barone of
The Bongos fame completed production on two
new projects this month. Newly signed artist Johnny
Rodgers on PS Classics, and soon to be
signed artist Tracy Stark, both worked with
Barone over the last year on their albums. Dubway
Studios owner/engineer Al Houghton tracked
both projects. Messenger Records recording
artist Dan Bern was back at Dubway tracking
his new album with Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci.
The very stripped down album was recorded live in
Dubway’s Yellow Room with one microphone, an acoustic
guitar and vocal. Newly signed to the Secretly
Canadian label, Antony and The Johnsons
were back at Dubway putting the finishing touches
on their new release, I Am A Bird Now.

Finally, on the VH1 set this month, Dubway
Studios continued audio production with recording
artists Good Charlotte, Taking Back Sunday, Alter

SESSIONS AT DUBWAY STUDIOS
After a brief hiatus at VH1, Dubway Studios
is busy again with the audio production of “Live
At VH1.com” with Original Media & VH1/MTV
Networks. On this month’s live set promoting their
new releases and tours were, PJ Harvey and
The Story Of The Year. Dubway Studios engineer
Jason Marcucci handled the tracking and Clint
Collins, also from Dubway, assisted. Nick Jr.
continued production this month at Dubway with composer
Evan Lurie, (known for his work with the famed
jazz group The Lounge Lizards) and Dubway Studios
owner/engineer Mike Crehore, for the children's
television show The Backyardigans. The
show continues to draw the best musicians in New York.
Nick Jr. has gotten behind the show full force and
is launching a national campaign with TV spots, print
ads, and a CD give away of more than two million copies
of music from the show.
Jai Rodriguez from the hit television show
Queer Eye For The Straight Guy was
back in Dubway’s Yellow Room with producer Chad
Richardson and Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci
cutting more tracks for his upcoming release. Peter
Calo from the hit Broadway show Hairspray
was recently in Dubway’s Yellow Room with owner/engineer
Al Houghton producing Broadway singer Ingrid
Saxon for her upcoming release. American Icon
Hardy Rawls, better known as The Maytag Repair
Man spent a day in Dubway’s Green Room, with engineer
Mike Presta tracking voice-overs for some upcoming
radio promos.
Roc-A-Fella Record’s first ever folk artist
Samantha Ronson was in Dubway’s Yellow Room
tracking acoustic promos for iTunes with engineer
Matt Wilcox. Dubway Studios engineer Mike
Presta assisted. And finally, Brioche/Indigent
Films tracked a portion of the film score for
Boutique, a short film slated for release
later this year. Dubway Studios owner/engineer
Al Houghton engineered the project.

This month Dubway Studios continued audio production
of “Live At VH1.com” with Original
Media & VH1/MTV Networks. This time around,
Alanis Morissette, N.E.R.D. , Snow Patrol,
and Yellowcard, were on the set with Dubway
Studios engineer Jason Marcucci.
Show Time Films was recently in Dubway's Green
Room tracking the commentary track for the upcoming
DVD release of Just Another Story, a new film
starring brother rappers GQ & JAQ. Dubway Studios
co-owner Mike Crehore engineered.
Nick Jr. hosted a celebration party with Dubway
Studios for the completion and delivery of the first
episode of The Backyardigans. The new
children’s show, which is heavily based around music,
has been in production for the last year and has had
a who’s who of “A list” musicians. On hand at the
private affair was Brown Johnson, Janis Burgess,
Robert Scull, Johnny Belt, and Ellen Martin,
of Nick Jr. Evan Lurie, who composed
the music for every episode was there, and from Dubway
Studios, Mike Crehore, Al Houghton, Steven Alvarado,
Jason Marcucci, and Keith Rigling. Episode
one is slated to air in October.
Grammy Award winning singer B.J. Crosby was

is releasing a dance mix version of the cut for the

Dubway Studio's head engineer Jason Marcucci
has been busy with some of the biggest names in music
over the last few weeks. Dubway is tracking all of
the audio for the hugely successful "Live
At VH1.com" on the VH1 set. Some of the artists
that have appeared on the show over the last few weeks
include Dave Matthews, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne,
Hootie & the Blowfish, Fountains of Wayne, Ben Kweller,
Finger 11, Trapt, 3 Days Grace, Jet, Everlast,
and The Get Up Kids, to name a few.
Ben Arthur was back to track vocals for his
new single with Dubway engineer/co-owner Mike Crehore.
Ben's debut album Edible Darling on Bardic
Records/Sony has received warm welcome by radio
and continues to gain more adds each week. Well-known
jazz group Urban Survival featuring renowned
bassist/composer Jim Donica, classical pianist/composer
Eric Olsen, drummer Chris Bowman, and
trumpet player Jeff Pierce, mixed their new
release Storry Hill in Dubway's Green Room
with Mike Crehore. The group recorded the album
in Chris Bowman's upstate New York recording
studio with Crehore, and then brought the tracks to
Dubway for mixing. Indie artist Dan Bern tracked
several acoustic songs in Dubway's Yellow Room for
his upcoming release on Messenger Records. Jason
Marcucci engineered.

Dubway Studios recently
had the pleasure of working with world-renowned artists
Christo and Jeanne Claude, famous for their larger
than life art installations such as "The Umbrellas."
Christo and Jeanne Claude recorded the commentary
track for the upcoming DVD "Five Films about Christo
and Jeanne Claude", a new documentary by acclaimed
filmmaker Albert Maysles (Grey Gardens, Gimme
Shelter, Salesman) to be released later this year
by Plexifilms. Dubway owner Al Houghton engineered
the session.
Artist and Songwriter Devendra Banhart visited
Dubway's Yellow Room to record his new album in one
night with Dubway engineer Emery Dobyns. Also
in Dubway's Yellow Room, Fab-Five member Jai
Rodriquez of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
" came in to work on vocals for his new album with Dubway
engineer Jason Marcucci engineering the session.

| Dubway Studios is keeping
busy as usual with several projects in house. Indie
singer songwriter Antony Hegarty is currently
recording his debut solo album at Dubway with Dubway
engineer Emery Dobyns who recently completed
recording the new Patti Smith album. Antony
brought in none other than Lou Reed to play guitar
on one track and add in a little of his signature spoken
word style singing as well. Another artist who stopped
by Dubway to lend a hand on Antony's project is Rufus
Wainwright. Rufus, who is beginning his world
tour this month took a night off while in New York to
sing background vocals on a track. On the VH1
set, Dubway Studios continues it's Production with VH1
on their hugely successful streaming internet broadcast
"Live At VH1.com." This weeks artist features
Johnny Lang. Dubway's own Jason Marcucci engineered
and was assisted by Kevin Van Genechten. |

As we finish the first month of this
New Year, Dubway Studios continues its streak of eclectic
recording sessions. Indie artist/pianist Antony Hegarty
recorded tracks for his newest release with Dubway engineer
Emery Dobyns. Folk singer Sonya Heller
brought in Producer Vicki Genfan, bass player
Mike Visceglia and drummer/percussionist Manolo
Badrena (Weather Report, Talking Heads) to lay down
some songs for her latest project with Dubway engineer
Mike Presta. The sessions on the VH1 set
continued with touring British group StarSailor,
and solo artist Teitur performing acoustic sets.
Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci and assistant
engineer Kevin Van Genechten recorded the sets.
Director Vivian Naefe and actress Katie Eyssen
of Berlin based Zeigler Films came in for an
ADR session with Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci
and assistant Keith Rigling.
Aside from the recording sessions, Dubway Studios began
construction of our new lounge and offices and will
soon be adding an additional live space. |

2004 is off to a good start for Dubway
Studios. Celebrated folk singer Chip Taylor,
known for writing "Wild Thing" began cutting
tracks for his new album in Dubway's Yellow Room and
brought with him none other than the legendary Rosanne
Cash to sing backup vocals. Taylor is about
to embark on a world tour which kicks off in New York
City at the famed The Bottom Line and will take
him around the globe. John Platania played guitar,
Anton Fig played drums, Tony Mercadante
played bass, Seth Farber played Hammond B-3,
and Liz Queler sang backup. Dubway's own, Mike
Presta engineered the session. Experimental jazz artist
Basya Schechter cut tracks for her new album
on John Zorn's label, engineered by Albert
Levsink and assisted by Mike Presta.
Richard Barone is in continuing work on Tracy
Stark's debut with Dubway Studio's owner Al Houghton.
Two other projects that Houghton is engineering is folk
singer Christine Spiecher, who has been diligently
mixing her new release, and the new album by The
Sharp Things, slated for release later this year.
Dan Manjovi tracked his new release with Mike
Presta, and last but certainly not least, the gang from
Nick Jr. are back to continue work on the new
kids television show The Backyardagins!

dialogue portion. |
