Year End Wrap-up at Dubway
| 2003 has been an amazing and exciting
year for Dubway Studios. The variety and volume of work
that Dubway has produced is astounding. The work keeps
coming in month after month with no signs of slowing.
Over the last year Dubway has had the pleasure of working
with HBO Films, Angelo Badalamenti, composer
Evan Lurie, John Leguizamo, Rosie Perez, VH1/MTV Networks,
Amy Rigby, Sandra Bernhard, Patty Austin, Kyle Fischer,
Joseph Arthur, Will Lee, Richard Barone, Jason Miles,
Anton Fig, Nickelodeon, They Might Be Giants, Lach,
Bonfire Films, Plexi Films, Phoebe Snow, Rob Burger,
Counting Crows, Puddle Of Mudd, Melissa Etheridge, Barenaked
Ladies, Anthony Hamilton, Joss Stone, Leona Naess, Something
Corporate, blues/Jazz legend Odetta Gordon, The
Drakes, Ben Arthur, Punk band Stupid, The Sharp
Things, and the extremely loud Zero 2 None.

| The legendary Odetta Gordon graced Dubway
Studios this week. The Grammy winning Ms. Gordon just
returned from Washington DC where she a accepted a Lifetime
Achievement Award from the Library of Congress in honor
of her outstanding singing career. Ms. Gordon, who has
an impressive back-catalogue of work on Vanguard Records
is working on a new project. |

| This week has seen the return of jazz
singer Johnny Rodgers and producer Richard Barone who
are working on Rodger's debut album. This time they've
brought in singers Lina Koutrakos and Margaret Dorn
to lay down some backing vocals. |

| In an ongoing project with VH1, Dubway
engineers, Jason Marcucci and Mike Presta went on location
to record the live taping of singer songwriter Anthony
Hamilton and the band Something Corporate both of whom
are on tour promoting their latest albums. |

| This month Dubway has seen the talented
singer songwriter Ben Arthur recording tracks with Mike
Crehore, Al Houghton and Jason Marcucci for his upcoming
debut album to be mixed by Mike Shippley and released
on Bardic records. |

| Richard Barone is becoming a regular
around Dubway these days. Barone is currently producing
jazz singer Johnny Rodgers' debut album. Barone brought
in the legendary Randy Brecker to add his signature
trumpet sound to the session. |

| Dubway's Yellow Room saw multitalented
singer/songwriter and producer Tracy Stark recording
songs for her upcoming album with producer Richard Barone
(Amy Rigby, The Bongos). Tracy was joined by Clint De
Ganon on drums, Peter Calo on guitar and Wayne Pedzwater
on bass guitar. Dubway owner Al Houghton engineered
the session. When not writing her own music Tracy writes
and produces music for various Broadway shows. |

| NYC based singer, actor and comedian
Hector Coris worked in Dubway's Yellow room recording
songs from his latest all original cabaret style revue
entitled "Not Me". Pianist/musical director Paul Johnson
and singers Tripp Pettigrew and Mickey Toogood, who
perform and sing in the revue, accompanied Hector during
the recording and Dubway's Mike Presta engineered the
session. "Not Me" enjoyed a 2 month run with performances
happening weekly in September and October at Rose's
Turn in lower New York City. |

| The folks from Nickelodeon are back at
Dubway once again with music Producer Evan Lurie. Lurie
wrote and is producing all of the music for The Backyardigans,
a Nick Jr. television show for kids, which will air
later this year. Dubway's own Mike Crehore is engineering
the project and Jason Marcucci is handling the voice
over portion of the work. |

Richard Barone finished producing the new album by Lach
this Saturday. The album is on it's way to the mastering
lab and Lach plans to release it later this year. Barones
next project is singer-songwriter Tracy Stark, followed
by Randy Brecker of The Brecker Brothers. Both projects
will be done here at Dubway.

They Might Be Giants reunited with Dubway
Studios Owner Al Houghton to do audio post for the DVD
version of the documentary film Gigantic, A Tale Of
Two Johns on Bonfire Films which follows the bands lively
career. Houghton first worked with the band back in
the 1980's when he recorded their first two albums.

| Recording star Phoebe Snow was in Dubway's
Yellow Room with producer Rick Chudacoff recording a
song for a new tribute album to honor the career of
Japanese recording artist Mayo Okamoto. Mike Crehore
engineered the project. |

The very loud, Zero 2 None recorded several new songs at
Dubway recently. The group, well known in the New York City
club scene came back to the studio for a second time to
add new music to their demo project. This time around Dubway's
Jason Marcucci engineered the session.

| Anti Folk artist Lach continued work
on his new album with producer Richard Barone. The two
were in Dubway's Yellow Room adding overdubs with Al
Houghton engineering. The album is due out in late summer. |

| Dubways Green Room saw San Francisco based recording artist Peter Scott recently. Scott came to New York to work with famed antiquated keyboardist Rob Burger. Burger, known for his work with his band Tin Hat Trio, John Zorn and Norah Jones, played his vintage Orchestron organ on Scott's forthcoming album. |

| The past two weeks have seen the continuation of tracking, mixing and editing for the upcoming Nickelodeon kids show, "Whoopi's Littleberg" starring Whoopi Goldberg. This time around producers John Platania and Michael Pillot brought in Dr. John to play piano and record voice narration as his character in the show.

| -VH1 came in with Michael Leviton, well known for his Ukulele based love songs about the sea, to record his latest hit, You're my VH1 and only. The 30 second VH1 promo taped live in our Yellow room will be running all summer long.

Last weekend, well known country music artist JW Lance was here recording overdubs for "Too Soon," a song he co-wrote with Marvin Conan, and which is slated to be the first single on his upcoming album release. JW is a member of the Country Music Association, and has been inducted into the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame. The session was engineered by our own Mike Presta.

-Industry buzz-heavy Coptic Light was here recording and mixing some tracks with Emery Dobyns. The band has been hard at work writing and recording and trying to decide which record label they would like to release their project on. Dubway's Andy Gerard assisted.

-We like
it busy around here and last week was no exception. Composer/Producer
Angelo Badalamenti of David Lynch fame (he scored every
Lynch film after Eraser Head), was here recording his latest film score
for HBO Films. The film, titled Undefeated, stars John Leguizamo
as an up-and-coming boxer. Leguizamo was here along with composer Andrew
Barrett, music editor Tass Filipos, engineer Phil Mann,
and our own Jason Marcucci, working to capture that signature Badalamenti
sound. Juging from the clips we got to see, the film's going to be a hot
one!

-Irish recording artist Susan McKeown was here recording with
Ensemble Tartite, a group of Taureg musicians from the African
nation of Mali. It was a wonderful experience recording this international
group--we learned quite a bit about African instruments and had a good
opportunity to brush up on our French.

-Spring has sprung and the clocks have moved ahead! Speaking of moving
ahead... that's exactly what we're doing at Dubway! In the past week we've
done sessions with Kyle Fischer, Toybox Theatre, and Wendy Wall.
-Acclaimed recording artist Wendy
Wall came in to record a song for Nola, a new film from
Talking Pictures starring Emmy Rossum, Mary McDonnell, Steven
Bauer and James Badge Dale. The film was directed by Alan
Hruska and Produced by Jill Footlick and Rachel Peters.
The film studio told Ms. Wall that they wanted to record the song themselves
at their studio, but she wouldn't have it. Wall insisted on recording
at Dubway Studios with engineer/owner Mike Crehore.

Nola will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on May
8, 10 and 11th. Tickets are available at tribecafilmfestival.org.
-Singer songwriter Kyle
Fischer came in to record his upcoming solo album with visiting
engineer Mark Haines of Butch Vig's Smart Studios, assisted
by Dubway's own Michael Presta. Fischer chose to work entirely
in the analog realm, on Dubway's 2" Studer. The album features Jenni
Fischer on piano, Stuart Gunter on drums, Kevin Shea (drums on The Love
of Everything), Jason and Kori from Mates of State on drums/piano/organ/female
vox, and Pascal on vox.

-Toybox Theatre
is a recently founded performing arts group. The group aspires to provide
the audience with a personal and thought provoking theatrical experience
that examines the fundamentals of humankind. They were here creating all
of the pre-recorded music for their upcoming May shows at the Pantheon
Theatre here in New York City. Composer Joe Brent thanked us
for being "the best studio in New York," and told us that he
"can honestly say that [he has] never worked with a better staff
of engineers anywhere in the world." The musicians included artistic
director John Barsness, violinists Phil Payton and Max Moston, Lev Zhubrin
on Viola, and Cellist Catherine Bent.

-Howdy, and welcome to DubNews. As March comes to a close, Dubway Studios
continues to be the hotbed of musical activity on 26th Street. Shaun Cruz
has finished his new album, titled The Moment Versus the Future.
The album, recorded and mixed at Dubway by engineer Emery Dobyns, is available

and will be in stores soon!
-Engineer Michael Ungerer, who began his career at Dubway over a decade
ago, has returned to us from Germany for a short stay, and we're thrilled
to have him back with us!

-One of the projects Michael is working on is Songs of Love by
William Norman. Songs of Love is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
creating personalized songs for chronically and terminally ill children.

-Greetings from Dubway! Last week was a productive one for clients Shaun
Cruz, The Drakes, and Bering Strait. The Drakes just finished a whirlwind
session with owner/engineer Al Houghton in which they recorded and mixed
3 songs in two days (all while reliving joyous memories from a Kung-Pao
movie). Shaun Cruz continues working diligently on his new record with
engineer Emery Dobyns, and Bering Strait worked towards perfection on
their new release with engineer Jason Marcucci.

-Hey Folks. The past couple months have seen Dubway Studios operating
at full-throttle. Both Rosie Perez and Sandra Bernhard were here, singing
some tracks for Whoopi Goldberg's "Littleburg," a project we are recording
and mixing for Nickelodeon.

-Happy New Year! It has been a busy one right out of the gate. Last week
we saw Amy Rigby ('Diary
of A Mod Housewife') in the Yellow Room recording a track for her upcoming
