) performed this month at New York City's Hiro Ballroom
for the hit PBS series "Live from the
Artist's Den." The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter
is promoting her highly anticipated 2nd album "The
Sea". Rae's self-titled debut, released
on EMI in 2006, sold 1.9 million copies in
the United States and spent 71 weeks on the Billboard
200. The record won her three Grammy Award
nominations and two MOBO Awards. Rae's
sophomore release will be available in record stores and
at Starbucks nationwide from January 26th.
Rae is currently the cover story for January's
2010 Billboard Magazine and is lining up further
dates for a tour in the States and Europe to begin in April.
While this episode of "Live From The Artist's
Den" does not yet have an official air date,
it will soon be available at Hulu.com.

The Grammy-nominated and platinum selling
performer appeared as part of the popular Apple iTunes
music series "Live From Soho". Dubway Studios
previously recorded the singer and songwriter back in September
for the VH1 Soul Stage and he continues to
tour in support of his second solo album "Signature".Joe has collaborated with stars such as Mariah
Carey, Brian McKnight, producer Vincent Herbert
(Lady Gaga, Destiny's Child) and is currently working
on a record with singer Ayoade Adeyinka. Dubway
engineers Jason Marcucci and Mike Judeh recorded
the performance with assistant Angad Bains, while
Jason Marcucci mixed the audio at Dubway Studios.
Finally, Dubway Studios worked this month with ad agency
BBDO tracking live sound for the Starbucks
Love Project. The project was the culmination of
a partnership between (RED) and Starbucks
in support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.
Since the project's inception over a year ago, seven million
daily doses of anti-retroviral AIDS medication have been
distributed via the sale of (RED) products
through Starbucks. On Monday December 7th,
Starbucks planned and produced a "Global
Sing Along" where musicians worldwide joined together
in a live performance of The Beatles' classic
"All You Need Is Love." The performance was
live-streamed from numerous different locations around the
world to the Starbucks Love Project website
and an edited version of the video can be viewed here: http://starbucksloveproject.com.

The Apple iTunes music series "Live
From Soho" featured several artists this month including
South African Windup Records group Civil
Twilight (www.civiltwilightband.com).
In town for a show at the Grand Ballroom opening
for label mates Evanescence, the band are
currently on tour promoting their self titled Sophomore
release. Several songs from their 2007 debut album "Human"
were featured in prime-time television shows, including
"One Tree Hill" and "House".
Atlanta based band and Favorite Gentlemen Recordings
group The Manchester Orchestra (www.themanchesterorchestra.com)
also performed at the store and are currently touring in
support of their second album "Everything to Nothing"
which was co-produced by Joe Chiccarelli (The
Shins, My Morning Jacket, The Racounteurs) & Dan
Hannon. The Manchester Orchestra has
performed on several television shows, including the Late
Show with David Letterman, Late Night with
Conan O'Brien, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Hip-Hop legend Rakim (www.rakim.com)
was also featured at the store this month and was in town
on tour with artists Ghostface Killah and
Brother Ali in support of his third solo
album "The Seventh Seal" released this month
on his own independent label "G&E Trust".
Now nearing twenty years at the top of Hip-Hop's Greatest
list, the Long Island, NY native has been universally cited
as one of the genres most influential pioneers, with >musical
tributes from artists such as Tupac Shakur, Eminem
and Jay-Z. Dubway engineers Jason Marcucci
and Mike Judeh recorded all three live performances
assisted by Chris Camilleri and Angad Bains
while Jason Marcucci mixed all the audio back at
Dubway Studios.
Limewire was back at Dubway tracking Canadian
indie pop band The Hidden Cameras for their
series "Live at Lime." The band just released
their fourth studio album "Origin:Orphan" on
Toronto-based label "Arts and Crafts Productions"and
are touring internationally in support of the record. Frontman
and writer Joel Gibb also designs the CD covers
and stage sets for the band and since his live debut in
a Toronto West End art gallery in 2001, a rotating cast
of regulars and special guests has contributed to recordings,
videos, and live performances across North America and Europe.
The session was tracked and mixed by Dubway engineer Stephen
Schappler assisted by Chris Camilleri and is

Dubway Studios was also a proud sponsor of the New
York Songwriters Circle this month (www.songwriters-circle.com).
Modeled after the famous "Writers in the Round"
nights at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, the circle (produced
and directed by Singer/Songwriter Tina Shafer)
has been producing bi-monthly shows at the legendary Bitter
End club in New York City's West Village for over
19 years. Showcasing artists such as Norah Jones,
Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Vanessa Carlton, Gavin DeGraw
and Chris Barron, the circle has become one
of the most popular music events in the city, attracting
the best up-and-coming songwriting talent from around the
world. This year's winner was singer songwriter Reed
Waddle who recently opened concerts for Hall
and Oates, The All American Rejects, the Wailers, Edie Carey
and Katie Herzig. Dubway's own Chris Montgomery
tracked the audio for both nights of the contest and mixed
the sessions back at Dubway Studios.

Sony/BMG artist Marc Sway (www.marcsway.com)
locked out Dubway Studios yellow room for a week in October
with producer/engneer Philipp Schweidler (Seven,
Talib Kweli) and an all star line-up of musicians
including drummer JoJo Mayer (Me'Shell
NdegéOcello, John Medeski). The Swiss pop star was
tracking basics for his 3rd solo album and filming a documentary
in the process. Sway's 2006 single "We Are On Fire"
was chosen as the official theme song of the Swiss Olympic
Team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and
his second full-length solo album, "One Way"
(Columbia Records, 2008), was a Top Ten hit
on the Swiss albums chart. Dubway engineers Mike Judeh
and Chris Camilleri assisted.
Australian singer and songwriter Sia (Zero 7) (www.siamusic.net)
tracked vocals at Dubway for her upcoming solo album "We
Are Born" which is slated for release in April 2010.
The songstress is currently touring internationally in support
of her recent record "Some People Have Real Problems"
which was nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist Album
at the 2009 Aria Awards. Several songs from Sia's
first record featured in the hit ABC show Gray's
Anatomy and the songstress recently co-wrote some
tracks with pop diva Christina Aguilerra for
release on Agullerra's forthcoming album.

Academy Award winning actor Phillip Seymour
Hoffman (Charlie Wilson's War, Mission Impossible
III), came to Dubway with composer Evan Lurie
(Lounge Lizards, The Backyardigans) to track
underscore for his directorial debut. Based on the Broadway
play of the same name by Bob Glaudini, "Jack
Goes Boating" stars Amy Ryan
(The Office), John Ortiz (Fast and Furious), Daphne Rubin-Vega
and Hoffman and is scheduled for release by
Big Beach Films in 2011. Dubway engineer Keith
Rigling tracked the session, assisted by Chris Montgomery.
In other news, the SingSOS album "Songs
of the Spectrum" is out now! The non-profit
group who use music to raise awareness in the struggle against
autism and spectrum disorders recorded part of their benefit
album at Dubway back in June. The organization are releasing
the project through their website www.singsos.org
where buyers can choose which autism group will receive
funds from their purchase, and a commercial release is planned
for the spring of 2010. The songs were performed by Jackson
Browne & Valerie Carter (duet), Dar Williams,
Marshall Crenshaw, Teddy Geiger, Ollabelle, Jonatha Brooke,
Don Dixon & Marti Jones (duet), Ari Hest,
Christina Courtin, Dan Bern & Mike Viola (duet),
Kelly Flint, Richard Julian, and the Cucumbers.

Apple iTunes highly popular music series
"Live from SoHo" continues this month with
New Zealand born singer/songwriter and indie rock artist
Ladyhawke (http://www.ladyhawkemusic.com/),
who is currently touring in support of her self-titled debut
album out now on Modular Records. Also on
the Apple Store SoHo stage, was French alternative
band Phoenix (Loyauté/Glassnote/Cooperative
Music). The band performed a short set following
a sold-out show in central park promoting their latest album
"Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix". (www.wearephoenix.com/)
Both performances will be available for download as part
of the iTunes series "Live from Soho".

Chicago IL - Chicago's Apple Store hosted a performance
by Boston-based electronic band Passion Pit.
The band are currently touring internationally in support
of their first full length Album "Manners" on
Frenchkiss Records and were in town for the
Lollapalooza music festival at Chicago's
Grant Park. Also in Chicago for the festival and showcasing
at the Apple Store were Brooklyn-based band Chairlift
(Kanine Records) who are currently touring Europe
and the United States with acts such as Phoenix, TV
On The Radio and The Shapes. Dubway
Studios' Chief Engineer Jason Marcucci flew out to
Chicago to track the audio for both performances and mixed
the concerts back in New York at Dubway.

Fasse of Miami-based record label and production
company Honor Roll Music came to Dubway with
"Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester
to track vocals for a song that the pair wrote specially
for her. Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf
in the hit CW Television series recently leaked
her version of another tune penned by the Miami duo,
"Birthday". Plans for a new single and album are
currently underway. Dubway's own Chris Camilleri engineered.
Singer/songwriter and pianist A Fine Frenzy
a.k.a. Alison Sudol performed on the hit Public
Television series "Live from the Artist's
Den" which was filmed this month at a secret location
in the Hamptons. Sudol has toured with artists
such as Rufus Wainwright and Brandi
Carlile and her first album "One Cell in the
Sea" reached Number One on Billboard's Heatseeker
charts. The sophomore album from the Seattle born musician
"Bomb in a Birdcage" is available September 8th
on Virgin Records. Dubway engineer Mike
Judeh tracked the audio for the show which was mixed
by Dubway Chief Engineer Jason Marcucci, assisted
by Keith Rigling.

Venezuelan funk-rock band Los Amigos Invisibles
performed at the iTunes store in downtown
Manhattan as part of the Latin Alternative Music Conference.
The Grammy-nominated group are currently touring
to promote the June 9th release of their new album "Commercial"
on David Byrne's Luaka Bop label.
Soviet-American singer/songwriter Regina Spektor also
performed at the Apple store in support of her new
album "Far" released on June 23rd
by Sire Records. Dubway engineers Jason
Marcucci and Mike Judeh recorded both performances
and mixed them at Dubway.
Limewire was back at Dubway recording Gary
Jules for their series "Live at Lime."
Jules is currently touring in support of musician
and pro surfer Donavan Frankenreiter and his
new album "Pass It Around" on Lost
Highway Records. Jules has toured
with artists such as Bob Dylan, Tears
for Fears, and Jim Bianco and released
his last record "Bird" on his own
label Down Up Down in November of 2008. Dubway's
own Mike Judeh tracked and mixed the session.
International independent label Obliqsound were
back in the studio, this time with contemporary guitarist,
vocalist and songwriter John Shannon. Shannon
has toured the globe with some of the brightest rising stars
on the music scene today across multiple genres including
singer/songwriter Sonya Kitchell and Japanese
pianist and composer Hiromi. This June found
him back in the studio tracking flugelhorn and bass overdubs
for a new record to follow his 2008 debut solo album
"American Mystic". Dubway engineer Mike Judeh
tracked the session.
Production company Original Media were back
at Dubway with DIY network show "King
of Dirt." The docu-style program features a
Brooklyn-born landscape contractor Gino Panaro
as he tackles everything from commercial projects for the
New York Aquarium and the New York/New Jersey
Port Authority to landscaping homes for locals. Dubway
engineer Keith Rigling mixed the final audio for
the show, which airs Mondays 9.30/8.30Cß.

Sh-K-Boom Records was back at Dubway withTony Award Winning Broadway performer Brian
StokesMitchell. Mitchell was
recording a song to accompany his forthcoming children's
book for the The Actors Fund. The charity
provides programs and services for individuals in the entertainment
industry and all royalties from the sales of the book will
go directly to the organization. Brian Stokes Mitchell
is scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl
later this month both with the Los Angeles Philharmonic
and in the musical Guys and Dolls.

Irish singer/songwriter Lisa Hannigan performed
on the hit public television show "Live from
the Artists Den". Hannigan has
performed with artists such as Damien Rice
and Grammy winnerJason Mraz
and is currently touring internationally to support her
first solo album "Sea Sew" out now
on ATO records. The album has been nominated
for both the Choice Music Prize, and
Best Irish Album at the Meteor Music Awards.

lyrics were composed by Stephin Merritt (Magnetic
Fields) and the show, orchestrated exclusively in
prepared and toy pianos, was produced by True Love
Productions (old Dubway friends) and MCC Productions.
It opened in June to an extended run and the recording will
be released on the prestigious Nonesuch Records
label.

The Grammy nominated, DJ Mag Awards Producer of
the Year, Deadmau5 caused a riot outside the Santa
Monica Apple store this May. Due to the unexpected
turnout for his Apple iTunes Live Music Series
show and the excessive crowds, the event was cancelled.
New York based Dubway studios engineer Jason Marcucci
was in Los Angeles to record the show when fighting broke
out. Police at the scene arrested concert-goers as they
broke into the store, hurled bottles, beat the storefront
glass chanting "Deadmau5"! There are no plans
to reschedule.
Back in New York, Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci mixed
audio for the hit public television series Live from
the Artists Den. Rock & Roll Hall of Famer
Booker T performed on the show, which was filmed
in New Orleans, along with the Drive By Truckers
and Grammy nominated artist Bettye Lavette.
Booker T is currently touring to promote his first
solo album in over a decade "Potato Hole" (Anti-Records)
which features Neil Young on guitar and the
Drive By Truckers who were also the backing
band for Bettye Lavette's 2007 Grammy
nominated release "The Scene of the Crime".
The new Booker T album was produced by
Rob Schnapf and Booker T.
Breakthru Radio's podcast series was back
in the studio with Australian band Yves Klein Blue
who are busy in the US promoting their debut album "Ragged
& Ecstatic". The album was recorded in LA with
Cold War Kids producer Kevin Augunas
and mixed in Sydney, Australia with Scott Horscroft
who also produced the Presets. The
band is garnering considerable media attention in the States
with heavy college radio airplay and the album is due to
be released through Dew Process on June 26th.

Depeche Mode's Martin Gore
and Andrew Fletcher recorded an interview
at Dubway with NPR's David Dye
for their radio music series "World Cafe."
The band are currently touring to support the release of
their 12th studio album "Sounds of The Universe"
which spent over 400 combined weeks in the UK charts. The
Depeche Mode episode is due to air May 22nd

Winner of the African Music Legend Award,
the Grammy nominated musician and composer
Hugh Masekela (Paul Simon, Miriam Makeba)
came to Dubway to track trumpet with ObliqSounds newest
artist, Somi. Somi has collaborated with artists
as diverse as Amel Larrieux and Mos
Def and will release her debut with the label this
fall. Dubway's own Chris Abell engineered the session.
VH1's critically acclaimed series "Soulstage"
continues with Grammy Award-winning Def Jam
artist Chrisette Michele, who was on the program
promoting her much anticipated second album "Epiphany."
The show, recorded and mixed by Dubway engineer Jason
Marcucci will be the first to air on both VH1
and VH1 Soul and will also be available on
the web at VH1soul.com.
Internet radio station, Breakthru Radio
was back at Dubway tracking Miami punk-soul band Awesome
New Republic (better known as ANR).
The duo comprised of Michael John Hancock
and Brian Robertson were a huge hit at this
years CMJ and are currently promoting their
new record "Rational Geographic Volume I."
Volumes II & III are due to be released on indie label Honor
Roll Music later this year. Dubway engineer Mike
Judeh tracked and mixed the session.
Richard Dworsky, pianist & musical director
for Garrison Keillor's well loved radio classic,
"A Prairie Home Companion" tracked
vocals for a new independent record with Dubway engineer
Jason Marcucci.Dworsky has worked
with countless artists including James Taylor, Bonnie
Raitt, Carole King and Taj Mahal,
and also appeared in the 2006 film "A Prairie
Home Companion," by the late Robert Altman.
Paul Schaffer, the CBS Orchestra
leader for The Late Show with David Letterman
who has recorded with numerous artists including Diana
Ross, B.B. King, Cyndi Lauper, and Yoko Ono
was at Dubway tracking piano and B3 with producer
Ed Haber (Linda Thompson, Teddy Thompson) for Andy
Statman's new record. The energy & virtuosity of
Andy's music defies description, though one might wave a
moniker of "extreme klesmer" at it. Statman
has recorded with numerous artists including Bela
Fleck and the Flecktones whose holiday album featuring
Statman, won a Grammy for Best
Pop Instrumental.
Kenny Wollesen (Tom Waits, Sean Lennon, Bill Frisell,
Norah Jones and Emmy award winning Nick Jr.
show "The Backyardigans") came to Dubway
with an independent project. Wollesen tracked
a variety of self made instruments from suitcases with pickups
to hand cranked oddities along with two drum sets, steel
drums, vibes, and an African harp. Dubway's own Mike
Judeh engineered the session.
Dubway also hosted engineer/producer Mario McNulty
(Philip Glass/David Bowie/Linkin Park) who is currently
producing a very unusual rock band NED (No Evidence
of Disease). The band are comprised of 6 talented
gynecologic cancer surgeons, who are working with record
label Motema Music to record an album for
release in November 2009. The CD will coincide with the
first annual Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Day
in Washington and proceeds from the sale of the album will
go to charity. While details of the deal are yet to be released,
Dubway was very pleased to be a part of this wonderful project.

Lots of activity at Dubway this month. Over on the VH1
set this month, India Arie performed for a new
taping of VH1 Soul. The talented Arie
is promoting her new albumTestimony: Vol 2, Love
& Politics (Universal/Republic). Jason Marcucci
engineered and Daniel Sanint assisted.
This month's Live From SoHo for Apple
iTunes hosted three very hot artists. The Fray (Sony),
Santigold (Atlantic), and Melody Gardot (Universal/Decca).
All three artsits are currently on world tours promoting
their new albums. Mike Judeh & Jason Marcucci
engineered and Chaz DeVito assisted.
Breakthru Radio was back this month with the indie
band The Demon Beat from West Virginia. The band
is growing more and more popular due to their grass-roots
touring and promotion approach and they have already sold
more than 7,000 copies of their self-produced album.

And finally, composer Ted Reichman was in tracking
the score to a new documentary film directed by Bob Richman
(Metallica Some Kind of Monster).

Dubway Studios kicked off January with a visit from late-night
comedian and TV star Conan O'Brien. O'Brien
had a guest spot as the voice of Santa on the hit Nick
Jr. children's show The Backyardigans.
The episode will air near the end of the shows fourth season.

Train Wreck Records recording artist Chip Taylor
has been back at Dubway to officially start tracking songs
for his new album, following 2006's critically acclaimed
Unglorious Hallelujah. Taylor, probably
most famous for writing Wild Thing has enjoyed
a long string of hits throughout his lengthy career, penning
such hits as Try Just a Little Bit Harder
for Janis Joplin, Angel of the Morning for
Juice Newton, and many more. Willie Nelson,
Emmylou Harris, Jimi Hendrix, Waylon Jennings,
Anne Murray, and Bobby Bare have all recorded
his songs. Huck Bennert engineered, Mike Judeh,
assisting.
SpongeBob SquarePants is releasing his new album, SpongeBob's
Greatest Hits and brought it to Dubway Studios for
owner Al Houghton to master. SpongeBob liked
working with Houghton so much on his last album that
he said "There's only one recording studio on dry land for
me!" SpongeBob's label, Nick Records plans
to release it this spring.

currently on national tours to promote their latest releases

Punk/dance duo Matt & Kim were at Dubway tracking

Happy New Year! 2008 was a busy year for Dubway. The
Backyardigans won an EMMY for OUTSTANDING SPECIAL
CLASS ANIMATED PROGRAM and Emery Dobyns won a
GRAMMY for BEST ENGINEERED ALBUM, Suzanne
Vega. Dubway wrapped up the last few months of 2008
with a pretty impressive array of sessions.
On the VH1 set, Qtip was the special guest
for VH1 Soul and performed for a live audience. Jason
Marcucci engineered and Mike Judeh assisted.
Mos Def was in with producer Josh Saddlier-Brown
tracking some new music with engineer Mike Judeh.
Duotone/20th Century Fox, producers of the hit television
show Life On Mars starring Harvey Keitel
chose Dubway to track some of the scoring for an upcoming
episode. Chris Abell engineered, Keith Rigling
assisted. Producer/DJ Tony Moran was in tracking
his newest club dance single. Mike Judeh assisted.
Television star Bebe Neuwirth was in tracking a
VO for an upcoming documentary on buying from local farmers,
Chris Abell engineered. Internet site Lime Wire
brought in recording artists Langhorne Slim & Juliana
Hatfield to track live for their new internet radio

The summer season is coming to a close and it's been a
busy few months at Dubway. Tween stars Jonas Brothers
played to a packed house at the iTunes "Live From
SoHo" series. Fans of the young Disney-signed
pop group lined up at 5:30 in the morning to get a coveted
seat in the Apple Store's tiny theater located in downtown
Manhattan. The store shut down for business so it could
squeeze in 450 screaming kids and had to turn away about
two thousand disappointed fans. Spotted at the show: Harry
Connick Jr. with his teenage daughter. Dubway chief
engineer Jason Marcucci and assistant engineer Mike
Judeh recorded the show.
Also at the Apple Store, experimental-funk-rap-pop
group Gnarls Barkley, popster Gavin DeGraw,
Grammy-winning Puerto Rican rock group Black Guyaba,
British pop group The Ting Tings, Miami based
Locos Por Juana, Cuban singer-songwriter Alex Cuba
and Duncan Sheik's Broadway musical Spring
Awakening for a special medley performance. Dubway

Speaking of Broadway, rising Broadway star Scott Alan
has been at Dubway for several weeks tracking his new
album. The list of guest singers on the new effort reads
like a who's who of Broadway and includes Sutton Foster,
Kerry Ellis, Norm Lewis, Megan Hilty and Randy Graff.
Engineer Paul Vazquez is tracking the sessions with
help from Dubway studio assistant Chaz DeVito.
NPR returned to Dubway to record a new episode of
their famous World Café with British group
Alabama 3. The band is most known for their
Sopranos theme song "Woke Up This Morning".

Internet Radio station Breakthru Radio has been in
recording their live show with a variety of guest artists
including The Matt Singer Band, The Bloodsugars, Reckless
Kelly, Brian Sendrowitz, and others. Dubway engineer

It's been a busy Spring season around Dubway Studios.
The Nick Jr. runaway-hit kids' television show,
The Backyardigans just wrapped the final episode
of season three. The show continues to draw some of the
most renowned studio musicians of our time including guitarists
Mark Ribot & Smokey Hormel, and drummer Kenny
Wollosen. Other guest musicians have included Billy
Martin, John Medeski,Mauro Refosco, Tony
Scherr, Brad Jones and Tony Trischka among
others. The music is recorded in the old-school style of
the Warner Brothers days with all the musicians in
one large studio together at the same time. With no time
to spare, Music Director Evan Lurie is already busy
writing music for season four. Engineers for season three
have included Keith Rigling, Mike Crehore,
and Jessica Wernett assisting.
Apple's live music series Live From SoHo
is drawing larger names to perform at its flagship retail
store in New York City. Most recently, the series has hosted
Counting Crows, Maroon 5, Morcheeba,
& Linkin Park. Tracking the live performances are
Dubway's own Jason Marcucci and Eric Spring,
with Mike Judeh and Chris Abell assisting.
Over on the sets of Live@VH1 and VH1
Soul, The Black Crows performed songs from
their new release Warpaint and Erykah Badu

KT Tunstall performed this month for Apple's Live
From Soho iTunes event at the Apple Store in
Soho. Tunstall played with a stripped-down version
of her band with just a drummer and two backing singers.
She packed the house and played a forty-minute set to a
very enthusiastic crowd. Dubway Studios engineers Jason
Marcucci & Mike Judeh tracked the session.
Teddy Thompson was in tracking guitar overdubs for
his upcoming release. This time around he had dad Richard
Thompson sit in on guitar. Dubway engineer Chris
Abell recorded the sessions.
Over in Dubway's mastering room, famed producer Russ
Titelman was mastering a new album by Broadway star
Christine Ebersole. Dubway Studios owner/engineer
Mike Crehore mastered. Ms Ebersole's album
is due out later this year.
Actress Sara Ramirez from the hit television show
Grey's Anatomy was in Dubway tracking demos
of some songs she's written for Decca Records. Dubway

And finally, young rockers The Postelles were back

2007 Wrap Up
It's been another busy year here at Dubway. Over at the
Live@VH1 set it's been busier than ever with
performances by Lenny Kravitz, Lifehouse, Keyshia Cole,
Wyclef Jean, and Sara Bareilles to name a few.
Dubway engineers Chris Abell and Jason Marcucci
tracked the sessions and were assisted by Mike Judeh
& John-David Hahs.
Dubway recorded several iTunes Events at the Apple
Store in SoHo in the last few months. The series is
called Live From SoHo and the latest batch
of artists include Taylor Swift, Thurston Moore of
Sonic Youth, Q Tip, Simian Mobile Disco, Dave
Gahan, and New Pornographers. The live performances

underwater classroom.
And finally, Jessie Colter is back working on her
new album produced by long-time Patti Smith guitarist
Lenny Kaye. Dubway engineer Eric Spring tracked

The folks at PBS Television (Iowa) brought in celebrated
author Frank McCourt this month to record a television
special called Historic Pubs of Dublin. The
show will air later this year. Dubway engineer Keith
Rigling tracked the session.
Actor Dallas Roberts was in to record ADR for his
new film Long Shot from Pacific Direct.
The film, directed by Jeff Balsmeyer is expected
out sometime in 2008. Dubway's Chris Abell engineered.
Former US Attorney General Janet Reno was in to record
an interview for the famous NPR show World Café.
Ms. Reno is promoting a new recording of old-time
American songs performed by contemporary artists called
The Song of America. Engineered by Chris
Abell.
Balance Films was in to film the pilot episode of
their new series Making It In New York. The
show is based on interviewing successful people in their
careers and asking them what it takes to make it. Dubway
Studio Manager Steven Alvarado was interviewed for
the segment.
Dance/Pop songwriter Scott Hardkiss was in with actress
Kate Hudson tracking music for a new film that Ms.
Hudson is directing. Dubway engineer Jason Marcucci
tracked the session.
Producer Mike Visceglia was in with folk/pop artist
Dan Bern to support Sing SOS by contributing
a song. The organization raises money for research to help
find a cure for autism. Dubway engineer Eric Spring tracked
the session.
And finally, folk/rock artist Wendy Wall was back
at Dubway Studios to track overdubs for her new self-produced
album due out in early 2008. Dubway engineer Eric Spring

Electronica/Lounge/Alternative group The Pinkertones
performed at the SoHo Apple Store this month for
Apple's iTunes Exclusives. The group gave a lively
performance to a full house. Another iTunes Exclusive at
the Apple SoHo Store was Nashville rock group Kings of
Leon. The band is currently on tour in support of their
RCA Records album Because of the Times.

mixed both bands and Dubway engineer Mike Judeh assisted.
Over on the Live@VH1 set this month, singer-songwriter
James Blunt performed a set to support his new Atlantic
Records album All the Lost Souls. Also
on the VH1 set, Grammy winner Jill Scott taped
an hour-long special, and performed songs from her new album
The Real Thing. Dubway Chief engineer Jason
Marcucci tracked and mixed and Dubway engineer Mike
Judeh assisted.
This month in the Yellow Room, Rent star Adam
Pascal guest starred on the Nick Jr. animated
hit television show The Backyardigans. Adam
had a singing part and played a dragon. Dubway engineer
Keith Rigling tracked the session and was assisted
by Jessica Wernett.
Local New York City Shoegaze group Autodrone spent
seven days in Dubway's Yellow Room, tracking 11 new songs
for their fourthcoming album. Dubway Studios' engineer Eric
Spring tracked the sessions and also signed on to produce
the group. Mike Judeh, John-David Hahs, and
Cole Wenner assisted.
Finally, New York indie-pop-rock group The Postelles
tracked a four song EP this month to be released on their
label Retone Records. The Postelles are the
youngest band to ever land a residency at Pianos Bar,

Billy Stritch, well known for his work with Liza
Minnelli as her piano player was in Dubway's Yellow
Room tracking songs for his new album with Dubway engineer
Chris Abell. The album is a collection of Mel Tormé
covers titled Billy Stritch sings Mel Tormé
and is due out later this year. Broadway songwriter Jonathan
Gealt has been tracking songs with Dubway engineer
Eric Spring for his new project. Guest singers have
included Shoshana Bean, Lewis Cleale, Kelli O'Hara,
and Lauren Kennedy. Speaking of Lauren Kennedy,
producer Jeffrey Lesser was in this month with the
Broadway singing star tracking songs for her forthcoming
album. Ms Kennedy has starred in such shows as Monty
Python's Spamalot, Les Misérables, Sunset Boulevard
with Glenn Close, Side Show, and Cinderella
at The New York City Opera. Dubway engineer Eric
Spring tracked the session.
Pop producer Russ Titelman is currently working on
the debut album for Alexis Fox. The album is drawing
a lot of attention and has had a variety of well-known musicians
sit in including brothers John & Martin Pizzarelli.

Bravery and Brandi Carlile taped sets, and at

Finally this month, French-American singer-songwriter
Marc Farre just wrapped two new albums after many months

have been taking place at Dubway over the last several weeks.
Broadway Star Christine Ebersol was tracking vocals

tracking their new Ghostly Records release with engineer

Over in the Blue Room, Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock
himself) was tracking narration for a film with Dubway owner/engineer
Al Houghton. Dance producer/pop star Scott Hardkiss
has been tracking his new solo album for several weeks now

set this month was Dashboard Confessional with Dubway

Jessie Colter began tracking songs in Dubway Studios'
Yellow Room this month with producer Lenny Kaye.
Colter (who was married to the late country music legend
Waylon Jennings) writes improvisational gospel-like
piano-vocal songs. Kaye (known for his extensive work with
Patti Smith) and Colter are long-time friends and
have been planning this project for years. Dubway Studios
engineer Eric Spring tracked the session.
Joss Stone was a guest this month on Live@VH1
as was newcomer James Morrison. Stone is promoting
her new album Introducing Joss Stone on Virgin
Records, and Morrison is promoting his debut album Undiscovered,
on Polydor Records. Dubway chief engineer Jason
Marcucci and second engineers Eric Spring &
Mike Judeh tracked and mixed the tapings.
Chip Taylor was back continuing work on a new album.
This time around he brought drummer Anton Fig and
bassist Tony Mercadante to track. And lastly Nick

Patti Smith was in Dubway Studios Yellow Room this
month tracking narrative for her documentary. Renowned photographer
Steven Sebring has been following the legendary rock
star with a movie camera for ten years, slowly piecing together
a documentary about her life. The film which is close to
completion, is set to hit the film festival circuit later
this year. Engineer Emery Dobyns tracked the session
with Dubway assistant engineer Eric Spring. 80s pop-star
Lisa Lisa (Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam) has
been tracking vocals at Dubway for a new album project.
The singer still has a huge following in the dance music
scene and recently sold out Madison Square Garden. Dubway
Studios engineer Eric Spring tracked the session.
This month Norah Jones stopped by the Live@VH1
set to tape songs from her new album Not Too Late.
The album is due out January 30th and has already received
rave reviews. Dubway chief engineer Jason Marcucci and
second engineer Eric Spring tracked and mixed the
taping. Teddy Thompson, son of Richard Thompson
is currently working on a new album and was in Dubway's
Yellow Room tracking vocals. The sessions were tracked by
Dubway chief engineer Jason Marcucci. Finally, a
music scene in the new Jack Black film entitled Be
Kind Rewind was shot at a church in New Jersey. The
film, also stars Mos Def and is directed by well-known
French director Michael Gondry. On the set tracking
the music audio were Dubway's chief engineer Jason Marcucci
and second engineer Eric Spring.
